INRiM's activities are carried on by fourteen scientific sectors, listed on this page.

Each Sector focuses on a specific topic by pursuing the three missions of the Institute:

• Research and development;
• INRiM's role as National Metrology Institute (NMI);
• Knowledge transfer and public engagement.
