Using renewable energy sources to reduce environmental deterioration is advisable. Still, new challenges are emerging to implementing energy conversion, storage, and distribution systems that comply with these intermittent sources, such as the sun or the wind.

In collaboration with the industry, INRiM plays an essential role in developing new conversion and storage devices and the so-called smart grids for energy distribution.
