The sector operates nine laboratories that perform both research support and calibration activities. In particular, there is a high-performance computing (HPC) laboratory, an electromagnetic dosimetry laboratory, laboratories for characterising and calibrating meters for electric high-voltage electric, electric current, low-frequency magnetic and electric fields, radio-frequency magnetic fields, and a calibration laboratory for electromagnetic compatibility devices.

In addition, the laboratories maintain and develop their reference systems.
