The laboratory realises, maintains and improves the International Temperature Scale (ITS-90) above the freezing point of silver (961.78 °C) by realising radiation thermometry scales at different wavelengths. It participates in international comparisons promoted by CCT and EURAMET in support of the CMCs. It studies and implements radiation thermometry techniques based on the use of high temperature metal-carbon eutectic fixed points (HTFPs) in primary thermometry and other scientific and technological applications.
