INRIM laboratories realize and maintain primary standards as needed for the dissemination of the International Temperature Scale in the range between 4 K and 2000 °C. Advanced methods are being developed to realize thermodynamic temperature standards in preparation for the future dissemination of the new definition of the kelvin. Novel sensors and measurement methods are being studied in support of fundamental and applied research in a variety of fields to promote technological and industrial development.
