Paragrafo

The choice of licence defines the use that the METRICA user can make of the attachment.

The choice of licence is determined by the publisher's policy and the type of contract the authors have signed at the time of publication, elements that the authors must check when uploading the attachment.

Not public - private/restricted access

Please select the "Not Public" option if you cannot make the attachment visible in METRICA in Open Access.

Public

Please select the "Public" option to make the attachment visible in METRICA as Open Access (even in case of an embargo).

Depending on the contract with the publisher, you may specify

  • Public - all rights reserved: implies that all rights relating to the publication have been transferred to the publisher (who keeps them all for himself while allowing the Open Access upload) or remain in the hands of the author (who decides to keep them all for himself); any use that the user wants to make of the publication must be authorised by the copyright holder (the publisher or the author).
  • Creative Commons Licences (CC): with the Creative Commons Licences, you can define the rights to be granted to the publication users, according to the model of "some rights reserved". To use CC Licences, the author must have reserved all rights for himself, or there must be an agreement with the publisher to release a specific version of its publication with CC Licences; sometimes, the publishers require the use of CC Licences (for example, Elsevier requires that all postprints be associated with the CC-BY-NC-ND Licence).
