On Friday, September 27, from 5 pm to midnight, and on Saturday, September 28, from 10:30 am to 7 pm, Turin will host the European Researchers' Night again. This Europe-wide initiative involves thousands of research institutions and aims to bring science closer to citizens.
For the third year running, the event is part of the UNIGHT project and is organised by the University of Turin and Politecnico di Torino in collaboration with the Musei Reali and the UNITA - Universitas Montium alliance. Following the success of 2023, the Musei Reali will once again be the venue for open-air workshops, science cafes, games for all ages, shows and musical performances.
The event will also involve other venues in the city, which will be open until midnight on Friday evening: Xké? The Laboratory of Curiosity, the 'Arturo Graf' University Archive and Historical Library at the Rectorate of the University of Turin, and the Museum of Human Anatomy “Luigi Rolando and Cesare Lombroso" Museum of Criminal Anthropology University of Turin
The activities were co-designed by multidisciplinary teams of researchers from the University, the Politecnico di Torino, and several research institutions around seven reference themes:
- adaptation to climate change
- research for human health
- climate-neutral and smart cities
- healthy oceans, seas, coastal and inland waters
- healthy soil and food
- cultural heritage
- research frontiers
The National Metrology Institute of Italy (INRiM) will participate in the Researchers' Night on September 27 and 28, with initiatives in science cafés, research labs, and games.

MEASURING WELL IS HALF THE BATTLE
with Marina Sardi
Through some games, we will show, in a simple and entertaining way, how important measurements are in any scientific activity and in our daily lives. In science, measurements are the starting point, the constant reference, and the guarantee of the verification of the results. In daily life, they help us make decisions and choices.
The proposed playful activities will focus on how measurements contribute to studying climate change and its effects on our planet.
