The rapid development and commercialization of new benchtop instrumentation in the field of surface analysis is opening up exciting prospects for the fabrication of nanoscale standards.
This activity is focused on creating nanostructures and reference materials useful for developing reliable and traceable measurement techniques and procedures (dimensional metrology, thermal properties, 3D chemical analysis, X-ray analysis, nanophotonics, and biosensing) for determining the composition, structure, and properties of a variety of materials at the micro and nanoscale.
Machine learning-based pattern recognition approaches are also being implemented for nanoscale dimensional standards, with the aim of making calibration procedures more accessible to users of the new instrumentation.
