We conduct research on raw materials, finished food products and food contact materials, developing and validating analytical methods to identify and quantify organic and inorganic contaminants, including PFAS, and to perform elemental speciation. 

We investigate food–packaging interactions and contaminant migration. 

We design active packaging with antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, adding value to agri-food waste within a circular economy framework. We integrate chemometrics, metabolomics and elemental analysis to verify the authenticity and traceability of food and wine products and combat fraud. 

We develop rapid, non-invasive spectroscopic approaches for in situ process control. We conduct proteomics studies to identify and quantify proteins, supported by bioinformatics tools, and investigate the relationships between protein structure and function.
