The laboratory designs and develops prototypes of new resistors both as static and transportable references standard, studying and characterising the stability over time and the dependence on the environmental parameters.

In addition, systems, devices and measuring instruments for the transfer of traceability to the resistance scales are studied.

The resistance laboratory works in collaboration with similar laboratories from other primary metrology institutes both for basic research and to participates to the international key comparison activities to ensure the uniformity of metrology capabilities.
