Modellizzazione di Sensori e Dispositivi wide

The Sector develops computational models for designing and optimising sensors and devices for life sciences and metrology applications. Particular attention is paid to the study of magnetic nano/microsensors (magnetoresistive, Hall effect), which can be used in in-vitro diagnostics for the detection of magnetic nano/microparticles used in biomarker screening.

Another application concerns the design and integration into networks of highly sensitive sensors (subpicotesla) for detecting magnetic biosignals, such as those produced by the brain.

Devices for therapeutic applications, such as electromagnetic hyperthermia, are also studied. For example, using a modelling approach, a radiofrequency applicator was recently designed to study the effects of hyperthermia in in-vitro systems.
