Paragrafo

The EU energy strategy requires an immediate shift in focus towards energy independence and a transition to green energy. To decouple the intermittent supply and demand of renewable energy while maintaining the electricity grid's stability, green hydrogen (H2) is an essential component of the alternative fuel.

H2 blending in existing gas infrastructure can play a key role in enabling the green transition. However, the normative framework, including testing procedures for mixes of H2 and natural gas (NG), is still being built.

The THOTH2 project intends to fill the gaps in normative and standards related to procedures and protocols for assessing the performance and determining the limits and tolerances of state-of-the-art measurement instrumentation in transmission and distribution systems.

In order to test various measuring devices installed in the gas transmission and distribution grids, such as gas meters, gas volume conversion devices, pressure and temperature transducers, gas quality analysers, and gas leak detectors, at various operational conditions, THOTH2 will develop specialized methodologies.

The findings of THOTH2 will be useful in supporting the technical committees of International Standard Bodies, Gas Transmission and Distribution Operators, Manufacturers of Measuring Devices, and Calibration Service Providers.
