The overall objective is to develop metrological infrastructure for traceable measurement and characterisation of testing equipment for electrical insulation and components for a reliable, renewable, affordable, clean and safe electrical energy supply.
1. To develop validated techniques and algorithms for the evaluation of very fast high voltage impulses for steep voltage testing
2. To develop VFT-divider-based measurement systems and associated calibration services for traceable insulator puncture testing using very fast transient high voltages.
3. To develop traceable calibration facilities for impulse current tests, especially with high energetic impulse currents.
4. To develop calibration facilities and reference standards for time-domain and frequency characterisation of high current sensors used in e.g. short circuit tests that conform with IEC 62475.
5. To link the results of the research directly to IEC TC 42 working groups as well as national committees with the objective of providing improvement in the IEC 62475, IEC 61083 and IEC 60060.
