General Terms and Conditions

Submissions must be made using the formal name of the institution [Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica], from an institutional email address [inrim.it], or from an INRiM IP address.

The publisher requires an affiliation check by the INRiM Library contact. This check simply confirms that the author is affiliated with INRiM.

Below is a list of currently active transformative agreements:

1. Springer (Publish & Read COMPACT)

• Duration: July 2025-2029

• What does the agreement cover? Corresponding authors affiliated with INRiM are entitled to publish a large number of articles in Open Access. The number of articles included in the agreement is managed nationally by CARE CRUI; the acceptance criteria for free articles will be based on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Where can I publish? All and only hybrid journals available on the SpringerLink platform https://link.springer.com/

• Article types: Original papers and review papers. Brief communications are excluded.

• Publication license to be always used: OA CC-BY 4.0.

Who pays the costs? Costs included in the subscription activated by the INRiM library.

2. Nature

• Duration: 2026-2029

• What does the contract provide: The corresponding author affiliated with INRiM has the right to publish a large number of articles in Open Access. The number of articles included in the agreement is managed nationally by CARE CRUI; the acceptance criteria for free articles will follow the first-come, first-served principle.

• Where can I publish? Nature hybrid journals (Nature research journals) subscribed to by INRiM:

• Nature

• Nature Materials

• Nature Nanotechnology

• Nature Photonics

• Nature Physics

• Article types: primary research articles

• Publication license to be always used: OA CC-BY 4.0

Who pays the costs? Costs included in the subscription activated by the INRiM library.

3. Wiley

• Duration: 2024-2027

• What does the contract provide: The corresponding author has the right to publish a large number of articles in Open Access. The number of articles included in the agreement is managed nationally by CARE CRUI; the acceptance criteria for free articles will follow the first-come, first-served principle.

• Where can I publish? All and only hybrid and fully (Gold) Open Access journals are available on the Wiley online Library platform. (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/)

• Article types: Original papers and review papers. Brief communications are excluded.

• Publication license to be always used: OA CC-BY 4.0.

Who pays the costs? Costs are included in the subscription activated by the INRiM library.

Alert! Publication in the fully Open Access journals listed is subordinate to that of hybrid journals; that is, the publication fund will be used first for publications in hybrid journals and second for publications in fully Open Access journals.

4. IEEE (Publish&Read)

• Duration: November 1, 2025 - December 31, 2027

• What does the contract cover? The corresponding author affiliated with INRiM has the right to publish a large number of articles under 8 pages in length, in Open Access. The number of articles included in the agreement is managed nationally by CARE CRUI; the acceptance criteria for free articles will follow the first-come, first-served principle.

• Where can I publish? In all hybrid and Gold Open Access journals available on the IEEE platform.

• Publication license to be always used: OA CC-BY 4.0.

Who pays the costs? The costs are included in the subscription activated by the INRiM library.

Alert! Article pages exceeding 8, certain types of figures, and cover pages have a separate cost.

5. Elsevier (Publish&Read)

• Duration: July 1, 2023 - December 31, 2027

• What does the contract cover? Corresponding authors affiliated with INRiM are entitled to publish a large number of Open Access articles. The number of articles included in the agreement is managed nationally by CARE CRUI; the acceptance criteria for free articles will follow the first-come, first-served principle.

• Where can I publish in hybrid journal titles (check with the library to see if the title you wish to publish is on the list).

• Article types: Original Paper, Review, Paper-Case Report

• Publication license to be always used: OA CC-BY 4.0.

Who pays the costs? The costs are included in the subscription activated by the INRiM library.

6. AIP (Publish&Read)

• Duration: 2023-2026

• What does the contract cover? The corresponding author affiliated with INRiM has the right to publish an unlimited number of articles in Open Access.

• Where can I publish? on hybrid journal titles

• Article types: articles, conference articles, letters, research updates, and review articles.

• Publication license to be always used: OA CC-BY 4.0.

Who pays the costs? The costs are included in the subscription activated by the INRiM library.
