The global database, compiled annually by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier, ranks the top 2% of researchers worldwide (the so-called World’s Top 2% Scientists), out of a total of more than 200,000 profiles.
The analysis covers 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields, drawing data from Scopus and assessing researchers’ performance over the previous year on the basis of standardized indicators (citations, h-index, hm-index adjusted for co-authorship, citations depending on authorship position, and a composite c-score). The results are presented in two lists: one referring to the entire career of the scientist, and the other focusing on the impact of the most recent academic year.
