From 1 to 3 December 2025, the 39th Meeting of the ETSI ISG-QKD committee was held at the INRiM Campus, Strada delle Cacce 91, in Turin.

The event was organized by INRiM with the support of the QuaMT-ITA Infrastructure, the European Metrology Network for Quantum Technologies (EURAMET EMN-Q), the EuroQCI projects QUID and EQUO, and the Qu-Test project.

The joint technical committee ETSI ISG-QKD is developing standards related to quantum technologies for Quantum Key Distribution and quantum communication.

ETSI ISG-QKD work enables digital keys to be shared privately without relying on computational complexity. The security offered by QKD will not be vulnerable to future advances in algorithms, computational power or the emergence of a quantum computer.

The ETSI ISG-QKD brings together important actors from science, industry and commerce to address standardization issues in quantum cryptography and associated quantum technologies. The work is specifying QKD system interfaces, implementation security requirements and optical characterization of QKD systems and their components.

The ETSI-ISG-QKD is contributing towards making QKD a robust deployable solution to protect next-generation telecommunications.
