On September 25-26, 2026, Turin will once again turn the spotlight on research with UNIGHT – European Researchers’ Night, a major science engagement event that brings the public closer to science and to the people behind it.
The 2026 event will mark the 20th edition of UNIGHT-an important opportunity to meet researchers, learn more about their work and discuss the changes affecting society and our planet.
The heart of the event will be Valentino Park, in the area encompassing Valentino Castle, the Botanical Garden and Viale Mattioli, with additional events taking place elsewhere in Turin and in Biella, Cuneo and Savigliano.
The programme will feature more than 350 activities, including research workshops, talks, exhibitions, hands-on sessions, prototype demonstrations, performances and games for people of all ages. The 2026 programme is organised around six thematic areas:
- Living Better;
- A Changing Planet;
- Building Communities;
- Digital Society;
- Exploring the Universe;
- Shaping Tomorrow.
Experiments, talks and interactive activities will give visitors the opportunity to explore research ideas, tools and results while speaking directly with the people who contribute to advancing knowledge every day.
INRiM will also take part in UNIGHT 2026, bringing the science of measurement and its research activities to the heart of the event.

A journey through codes and science to discover how information is protected. Through encrypted messages, invisible ink, physics principles and cryptography, we will explore coding and security techniques, ranging from the simplest systems to the foundations of quantum communication.
