COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course is devoted to electromagnetic dosimetry in the medical applications of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Attention is focused on the numerical modelling and the experimental evaluation of the electromagnetic and thermal quantities induced inside the human body when exposed to the fields (static, low frequency and radio-frequency) produced by MRI scanners. Relevant exposure scenarios are presented, including the case of patients carrying implants and of the medical staff.

COURSE TOPICS
- MRI - Basic Principles;
- Computational tools for time-varying fields
- Computational tools for the thermal problem
- Exposure to RF fields: Standards, Test cases
- Exposure to GC fields: Standards, Test cases
- Exposure to Stationary Magnetic Fields: Standards, Formulations for Motion-Induced Fields, Test cases
- Exposure of patients carrying implants: Physical aspects and Standards
