The sector develops nanoscale electronic devices and computational architectures based on both thin-film and nanostructures. The development phases are as follows:
Fabrication of electronic devices using lithography and thin-film deposition techniques;
Electrical characterization of these devices to study the physical mechanism underlying electronic and ionic transport phenomena;
Modeling of these transport phenomena;
Implementation of neuromorphic functionalities in the devices developed;
Implementation of computational architectures based on the developed devices.
This activity includes the development of memresistor devices for neuromorphic computing and the development of a new resistance standard operating in air, at room temperature, and in the absence of a magnetic field, as well as the investigation of superconducting properties in nanostructured devices.
