Design, fabrication and characterization of tunable photonic structures, such as 2D and 3D photonic crystals and optical micro components, in photo responsive materials. Through the use of non-commercial materials with liquid crystalline properties synthesized in our laboratories, the resolution of the two photon direct laser writing lithographic technique has been improved, allowing the creation of photonic structures with resolutions below the diffractive limit in photo-responsive materials. The sector also studies, realizes and characterizes non-clonable physical functions (PUFs) using reconfigurable polymeric disordered systems to generate highly secure cryptographic keys.
