The laboratory realises, maintains and disseminates the plane angle unit, the radian.

Several state-of-the-art standards based on both the division of the circle into equal parts and the trigonometric generation are available. The team leads research activities and develops techniques and devices to meet the needs of the mechanical and aerospace industries and to improve metrological dissemination.

The laboratory performs also roundness measurements of circular samples using a mechanical contact probe.

It participates in and coordinates international comparisons promoted by CIPM and EURAMET to support INRIM CMCs.
