INRiM coordinates the activities of IMPreSA, providing metrological support for the validation of analytical methods and enhancing the reliability and comparability of measurements in the food sector, from small molecules to proteins. It delivers services to the agri-food sector and collaborates with public research organisations and industry to promote innovation and technology transfer.

In the 2026–2028 period, IMPreSA aims to strengthen its partnerships, establishing itself as a regional hub for food safety and traceability.

The infrastructure is equipped with ICP-HRMS, HPLC-HRMS, EA-IRMS, AF4 and NMR instrumentation, and operates in the areas of contaminant control, traceability and certification of origin, development of active and sustainable packaging, and release testing of commercial food packaging.
