Misure per il sistema elettrico wide

The widespread deployment of renewable energy sources in the electrical power system requires measuring instruments and systems with adequate metrological performances even under distorted conditions, as well as the installation of new grid-forming inverters. These require specific tests to verify their control and intervention capabilities.

The following objectives are pursued. The following activities are undertaken:

  • Development of reference generation systems for high voltage and high current applications, in AC up to 100 kV (15 kA) and in DC up to 10 kV (3600 A), with the capability to introduce arbitrary distortions and ripple, aimed at the characterisation of transducers and measurement systems under such conditions. The reference generation and measurement systems enable the emulation of both steady-state and transient power-quality phenomena up to 150 kHz.
  • Development of an experimental setup and procedures for the characterisation of grid-forming inverters intended for low-inertia power networks.
  • Development and implementation of characterization techniques for non-invasive, wideband reference sensors for on-site, on-line calibration of current transformers in high-voltage substations.
