Investment 3.5 “Hydrogen Research and Development” aims to support research and development activities focused on hydrogen across the following areas: the production of green and clean hydrogen; innovative technologies for hydrogen storage and transport, as well as its conversion into derivatives and electrofuels; fuel cells for stationary and mobility applications; and intelligent integrated management systems to enhance the resilience and reliability of hydrogen-based smart infrastructures.
Within this framework, the MAESTRI project (“Methodologies for the Definition of Standards and Regulations for Hydrogen”), presented and coordinated by INRiM in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), seeks to contribute to Italy’s technological alignment with the emerging scenarios driven by the
accelerating energy transition. Specifically, the project focuses on the development of a metrological system to support the certification of hydrogen production, utilization, and transport systems, as well as the necessary updates to current regulations concerning new sustainable energy carriers.
The project’s objective is to establish a national metrological infrastructure equipped with internationally recognized Calibration and Measurement Capabilities (CMC) for measurements aimed at characterizing the technological devices used in the production, distribution, and utilization of hydrogen.
