INRiM is a partner of iENTRANCE@ENL (Infrastructure for Energy TRAnsition aNd Circular Economy @ EuroNanoLab), a distributed Research Infrastructure dedicated to the energy transition and circular economy, funded through the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP – NextGenerationEU) under Mission 4 "Education and Research", Component 2, Investment 3.1.

Implemented between 2022 and 2025, the infrastructure brings together the expertise of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR)Politecnico di TorinoINRiMSapienza University of RomeUniversity of Bologna, and Roma Tre University, organised into six geographical nodes and fourteen operational units.

iENTRANCE provides the scientific and industrial communities with access to more than 400 highly specialised research instruments, covering the entire research value chain for energy materials: from material synthesis to multiscale and metrological characterisation, modelling, process development, and integration into devices and systems. Training and advanced education are also among the core missions of the infrastructure.

During 2025, INRiM completed the installation of the equipment foreseen by the project, contributing to the full operational deployment of the infrastructure.

Since the second half of 2025, the infrastructure has been accessible through its Single Entry Point, a public web portal providing a continuously updated digital catalogue of instruments, facilities, expertise and services available across all partner institutions. The catalogue follows the FAIR principles of Open Science, enabling users to identify the most suitable facilities for their scientific and technological needs.

Access to the infrastructure is provided through public Calls for Proposals, evaluated by means of transparent peer-review procedures together with technical feasibility assessments. The first call, launched in July 2025, received more than 50 proposals from the national and international research community.

To support infrastructure operations, the consortium adopted the ARIA platform for the integrated management of user access workflows and NOMAD Oasis for FAIR scientific data management throughout the entire research data lifecycle.
