The research focuses on developing strategies to achieve reproducible measurements using both emerging and established analytical techniques, validate and harmonise results, and establish their metrological traceability.
These methodologies, based on spectroscopy and spectrometry, enable the development of analytical methods for microplastics, nanoplastics and emerging contaminants. They also support participation in international metrological comparisons, many conducted within the frameworks of CCQM, ISO and VAMAS.The activities also include the development and production of reference materials to address emerging needs in industry, standardisation and new measurement technologies.
Through EMN Food, the sector contributes to defining the European strategy for developing reference materials for food safety and sustainability.
