The 24th International Scanning Probe Microscopy Conference (ISPM 2026) will take place in Genoa, Italy, from May 26 to 29, 2026, bringing together the international scientific community working on Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) and its applications in physics, materials science, biology, and medicine.
Established in 1999 in Seattle, the ISPM conference series has become a long-standing international forum for presenting and discussing advances in SPM techniques, sensors, and nanostructures. Following the most recent in-person edition held in Sapporo in 2024, ISPM 2026 is expected to attract researchers from academia, research institutes, industry, and government laboratories worldwide.
The scientific program will highlight recent advances and breakthrough methodologies in AFM and STM, covering topics such as:
- SPM on single molecules and model biological systems;
- AFM on cells and multicellular systems;
- AFM in disease-related research and mechanotransduction;
- Multifrequency AFM approaches to nanomechanics;
- Correlative SPM microscopy;
- High-speed and ultra-fast SPM;
- Nanometrology, quantum materials, and energy research;
- Nanotribology;
- Novel methodologies, including Artificial Intelligence.
The ISPM 2026 timeline includes several key deadlines for participation in the conference:
- February 28th, 2026 – Abstract submission deadline
- March 31st, 2026 – Contributions acceptance, draft program on the web;
- March 31st, 2026 – Early registration deadline.
Abstract submission is handled through the dedicated online platform.
Conference registration is available online at the designated link.
