General Manager provides for INRIM's financial and administrative management and is responsible for it; he ensures the implementation of the resolutions of the Board of Directors and the measures adopted by the President; he coordinates and controls the general services and the administrative structure.

He is chosen, based on public notice, from among persons with high technical-professional qualifications and proven management experience, with in-depth knowledge of public entities' regulations and organisational structures.

The appointment, assigned by the President after deliberation by the Board of Directors, has a maximum duration of five years and is renewable.

The current General Manager is Dr Moreno Tivan.
