The Unit is responsible for the management of INRiM’s two research infrastructures (RIs): IMPreSA –Metrological Infrastructure for Food Safety and PiQuET – Piemonte Quantum Enabling Technology, a centre dedicated to quantum, micro- and nanotechnology.
IMPreSA aims to support companies and public research organisations in ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. Its main objectives include the validation of analytical methods for the quantification of contaminants, the improvement of production processes, and the enhancement of food traceability and authenticity. IMPreSA participates in interlaboratory comparisons within the BIPM-CCQM framework and contributes to the development of reference materials, supporting the definition of a European strategy within the EMN Food initiative.
PiQuET is a research infrastructure that serves as a regional reference centre for the development of new micro- and nanofabrication processes and for the integration of sensors, quantum devices and advanced materials. Its objective is to provide an accessible, competitive and reliable OpenLab, supporting research projects and technology transfer activities, particularly in the fields of metrology and quantum technologies.
