Predictable photodetectors

The activities aim to validate predictable photodetectors (PQEDs) as primary standard. These photodiodes allow to measure optical powers with uncertainties comparable to those of the cryogenic radiometer. In fact, the PQEDs, exploiting a robust modeling of the electron-hole pair generation efficiency, are expected to reach uncertainties of 1 ppm at cryogenic temperatures. The sector is an active partner in European projects that aim to validate these performances thanks to the dual photoelectric-radiometric operation of the PQED. Participate by investigating optical properties through ellipsometric measurements and software modeling. It contributes with the implementation in its laboratories of the measurements in dual configuration
