Optical Clocks Workshop 2010 at a glance
The workshop on optical clocks is a three days meeting to be held at INRIM, Torino from December the 1st to December the 3rd.
The workshop will be locally organized by INRIM in the framework, and with the financial help, of the iMERA Joint Research Program OCS (Optical clocks for a new redefinition of the second - T1.J2.1), which is expression of the European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP) with the funding support of the European Commission, and YTRO (Ytterbium Trap Reference Oscillator), a research program funded by Regione Piemonte.
The workshop aims to procure the scientific community working on optical clocks, an informal opportunity to discuss in depth the advancement of the various research activities, and also focus our attention on the fundamental metrological aspects of these novel frequency standards.
Having this in mind the workshop will offer oral sessions with invited speakers, covering the various aspects of all the major research activities: optical lattice clocks, single ion clocks, and to same extent also some technology related topics (fs combs, optical links, clocks in space).
A rich poster session offers as well a complete insight of scientific contributionsfrom the community.
The workshop will host a panel session with internationally recognized people to discuss the role of the optical clocks in the future organization of the international system of units.
